1st Saturday Amador Art Trek
Take a trip on the Amador Art Trek this month. First Saturday Amador Art Trek is a free self-guided walk or drive-and-walk tour that provides easy public access to where art is located. Part of Art Trek is the monthly “1st Saturday” when many participating galleries have receptions in the afternoon to kick-off their new shows.
You can go on the Art Trek ANYTIME that the 12 galleries are open. Go to www.amadorarts.org to find the details about each month’s specific gallery events. A brochure is out in the galleries that will highlight the gallery participants. It’s a quick reference guide -- map, names, addresses, and hours.
Here is a brief listing in alphabetical order of participating galleries and if they have featured art in November:
Add Art- Jackson. Fine art framing services and the colorful original work of the late John Johannsen are featured. This world renowned artist’s vibrant and whimsical canvases are sought after by many collectors. Even though his home/studio burned to the ground last year, here is where you can still see and buy Johannsen’s rare works.
AmadorArts Gallery- Sutter Creek. For November: Annual Holiday Adornments Show and Sale featuring 20 artists with great ideas for gift-giving and seasonal decorating. Lots of ornamaents, cards, feather art, wood works, jewelry and more. Order your fresh holiday wreath at the free Art Trek reception on November 4 from 2-5 pm. The exhibit will run through Dec. 23 Hours: Sat. and Sun 11 to 4. Call 209-267-9038 for weekday hours on Tues.- Friday.
Blue Belle Studio – Pioneer. Deb Wright has closed her working art studio for the winter. Open again in the spring. Visit https://www.facebook.com/LeapinMoon
Chaos Glass Works- Sutter Creek. Art Glass Gallery and Hot Shop: David and Heather Hopman offer a wide selection of art glass items. Live glassblowing demonstrations happen all-day on weekends. Using a state-of-the-art electric furnace, the artists melt glass from batch, add colors, and working the glass at over 2100 degrees, they blow and hand shape the pieces to achieve a unique array of forms.
Charles Spinetta Winery & Wildlife Art Gallery- Plymouth. The tasting room includes one of Northern California's largest wildlife art galleries with original watercolors, sculpture, pottery, and hundreds of framed prints. Sip wine while you gaze at this amazing collection.
Fine Eye Gallery- Sutter Creek – For November: Andy Byrne and Lorra Lee Rose. Using scrap metal in an untraditional manner, Andy Byrne makes provocative pieces out of simple components. Design elements are derived from his fascination with Euclidian and Fractal Geometry; each piece is exceptional and one of a kind. it can take years for Lorra Lee Rose to collect enough feathers to make one of her signature masks. she places them, one at a time, with painstaking detail, using hot glue. Her monumental 3-year project the feather fairy is now on display in the gallery. Open daily 10-5:30.
Gallery 10 - Sutter Creek. For November: Sharon Galligan will be showing her collection of watercolors, acrylics and oil paintings with subjects of California and European scenes. A reception will be held in Sharon’s honor at Gallery 10 on November 4, 2-5 pm. Everyone is welcome to stop by, meet Sharon, enjoy her beautiful work, and have refreshments. The gallery is open Thursday-Monday, and some Wednesdays, 11-5 throughout November.

Heart & Soul Studio – Sutter Creek. This 3,800 sq ft warehouse is the setting for a variety of fun on-going workshops and is also available to rent for public and private events. 21 Badger St. The retail boutique is at 42 Main St. Daily 10–4 pm. (209) 256-9702.
Little City Studio and Gallery- Amador City. Welcoming in the Season with a display designed to recognize ART as the perfect Holiday gift! Featured are many popular local artists with works at very affordable prices. In addition, there’s jewelry, knitting and crochet, weaving, pottery, cards, scarves, etc. Carefully chosen consignment clothing will please as well! Show continues through Dec. Petroglyphe Gallery - Mokelumne Hill. For November: Works by Dale Laitenin in a show called, “Crossing California – Sierra to the Sea.” See the culmination of his years of zigzagging the state in mediums as diverse as the scenes. Also in the gallery are many gift items and works from fine artists known nationwide. Open Thursdays through Sundays at 11:30.
Shenandoah Gallery at Shenandoah Vineyards – Plymouth. The owners and their family have created an art-filled experience in their tasting room. 12300 Steiner Rd. Daily 10-4:30.
Sutter Creek Gallery “Art for Everyone”- Sutter Creek. For November : painter and photographer Wendy Ward whose art centers on concepts she feels compelled to explore, such as “peace” and “sensuality.” She applies her images to prints, tiles, small collages and tote bags and pillow. Meet her 2-5 pm on Nov. 4 during the 1st Saturday reception. Enjoy refreshments too. Open daily 10 am – 5 pm, but closed Tuesdays.
