Established in 1970, Amador County's first post-prohibition winery is the largest and most modern of the area. Terra d'Oro (formerly Montevina) continues its long tradition of producing robust, full-bodied Zinfandels and Barberas while experimenting with new varietals and innovative wine-making techniques. It boasts a $12 million, state-of-the-art production facility, complemented by a beautiful, vineyard-ringed, covered patio that can accommodate up to 300 people. Wines include big, rough-hewn Zins, stylish Syrahs and the largest Italian portfolio in the United States.
